Tips For a Stress Free Wedding | Virginia Wedding Photographer

Want to have a stress free wedding day? :

You know what's harder than being a bride planning her wedding... being a bride on her wedding day. This may sound crazy, but if you don't plan accordingly, you could end up spending an insane amount of time and money on an event, where you're in a miserable mood because you didn't think things through. NO fun. Who wants that?

First off, you can avoid all of this, if you simply get a wedding planner. If your budget doesn't allow for a wedding planner here's some tips to get you started in the right direction.

Here's the tips. To view more info on the tips just scroll down. :)

  1. See each other before hand.
  2. Wear comfortable shoes at your rehearsal/day before.
  3. Have two pairs of shoes for the wedding day.
  4. Eat something.
  5. Have an emergency kit.
  6. Find a person who knows how to pin the boutonniere on the groomsmen.
  7. Designate one person with the rings.
  8. Have 3 people know how to bustle your dress.
  9. Get ready first.
  10. Rehearsal Dinner: give everyone info guide.

  1. See each other before hand. I know I know, tradition. If you don't see each other before hand no big deal, just be informed. Seeing each other before allows me to capture the grooms initial reaction as well as the brides. BRIDES.... sometimes you are so preoccupied with walking down the aisle that you don't really see your man until you have made it to the alter.
  2. Wear comfortable shoes at your rehearsal/day before. Normally the rehearsal dinner is the day before, don't wear shoes that are going to make your feet kill the next day (because that next day is your wedding day and you're going to be on your feet for the WHOLE day).
  3. Have two pairs of shoes for the wedding day. If you are like me you can't wear high heels hardly at all. No problem! How about you have two pairs of shoes. One so you can get some cool shoe shots and then take those off and wear something comfy.
  4. Eat something. I don't know how many times I have to say this but your wedding day is not a day to turn all anorexic on me.We don't want any passed out brides.
  5. Have an emergency kit. If you don't do anything of this list. DO THIS. You will thank me later. If you click here they have a great list of things you can print off. Or you can order this bridal kit on amazon!
  6. Find a person who knows how to pin the boutonniere on the groomsmen. This is an important job and I'm telling you no one knows how to do it. No one will know what those flowers looked like if there's no photos of it. RIGHT!!?? :) Here's a great site to learn how to do this. Remember, people like to feel important and like they have an important job, so this is a great job for Aunt Milly! This is a great how to video to ensure your flowers  look GREAT!
  7. Designate one person with the rings. I know some of these sound like a no brainer but sometimes we forget the simplest of things.
  8. Have 3 people know how to bustle your dress. Most times the bride is only one who really knows how to bustle their dress.Have 2 other people go with you, so that they will remember. Ask your bridal store if they have a how to guide or tip card, they just might and then you won't have to worry about forgetting.
  9. Get ready first. Seems easy enough but most bridesmaid spend so much time caring about how they look, they end up making you run late for everything. So make sure you get ready first, get your hair done first, your makeup done first, that way you will have that extra time to relax. :)
  10. Rehearsal Dinner: Give everyone info guide. Well, you may come off as anal retentive but who the really cares. I would rather be anal and have a perfect wedding then have it turned to all sorts of chaos. :) Give everyone who is an important part of your wedding day a guide with the following info.

  • Ceremony Venue/Address
  • Reception Venue/Address
  • Everyone in your immediate family & bridal party - cell phone #'s
  • Vendor Name & Contact # (cake, flowers, church coordinator, dj)
  • Schedule of Events
Tell them to put this in their car or something they know they will have the next day. Will all of them remember? No, but  one person remembering  might just save the day if something happens! :)

Virginia Wedding | Rustic with Southern Charm

A beautiful wedding in the western part of Virginia. It was supposed to be an outdoor wedding but mother nature had other plans. The bride and groom made the best of the situation .. and still had a beautiful ceremony. Thankfully the rain stopped in time for us to get a few shots outdoors on the farm. The decorations for the reception area were amazing, rustic with a touch of southern charm. Everything was done by friends and family of the bride and groom, from the officiant to the bartender.
I can't wait to meet with this couple to review their album design!

Enchanted Weddings

Such A cute couple. I told them to act as though they were dancing and he dips her. As he dipped I said "kiss". This wedding took place at an amazing old farmhouse. I thought the flowers (they were already here) added that something special. Love this Shot!
