Impromptu Photo Session | Virginia Child Photographer

When it is cold outside and the girls are bored one of the things we do around my house is have an impromptu session. I like to use these time to experiment with light and practice technique. My girls love the attention and feeling like models. This time even our kitten, Panda, wanted in on the action.
My 10 yr old tells me she wants to a photographer too, and be a part of my business. She talks about taking it over and since her initials are the same as mine the name doesn't have to change. lol SO .... I needed an updated photo. I gave her the camera and some guidance. The picture of me with one of my cameras was taken by her. Not to shabby .... a photographer in the making. :)

Circus in Richmond | Richmond Area Photographer

Well the circus came to town last weekend. My 5 yr old had never been so we decided to get tickets and enjoy the show. She sat in her seat with eyes as big as pie plates for the entire show. She talked about it the entire ride home, and wore her circus hat for days!
I thought I would share some of the highlights :)

It's snowing in Virginia | Virginia Photographer

It's SNOWING!!!! Something we don't see all to often in Central/Southern Virginia. The children get crazy excited when they see the snow fall, even if it won't mean a snow day. Teachers may be mildly upset that the snow decided to wait until the weekend. I think they want snow days more than the kids.

AT any rate the snow is falling and looks beautiful, even if it's not sticking to the ground.

Prints available for purchase. email for pricing (please specify size wanted)

Advantage of Rural Life | Central/Southern Virginia Photographer

There are some advantages to living in the middle of nowhere. I will be the first to admit that most of the time it is a little inconvenient to live so far away from anything. I can't just run to the store to pick up small items I may have forgotten during my grocery trip. Everything is at least 15-20 minutes away. My store choices are also limited unless I want to drive another 15-20 minutes. BUT .... nights like tonight I am grateful I live where I do. If I lived in the city we couldn't decide to build a fire in the back yard for no reason at all. Yes it is cold outside, but it was nice and toasty beside our fire. We stood by the fire keeping warm looking up at the stars in awe, imagining what it was like for the people who lived during a time when electricity wasn't even a glimmer in the imagination.

Virginia Child Photographer | Dinwiddie

It was cold, but these two girls toughed it out, and we managed to get a few really cute photos. Hearts were placed in the trees for Valentine's day. They both helped decide where all the hearts should be hung.
My favorites are with the hats and gloves. They look like two cuddly fuzzy little bears, you just want to squeeze!

A Merry Christmas

Things are finally settling down after the Holidays. I love nothing more than to spend this time with family and friends. This year was our year to travel up north to visit family. Everyone there enjoyed a white Christmas and the kids had a blast playing in the snow.
